Stockport

£30.00

This screenprint was made for release at the Stockport Paint Jam on the 22nd Sept 2024 as a finderskeepers.

As a kid I used to love visiting Stockport to see my gran, she used to take me and our kid down to town to get our plastic fix at Toy & Hobby and we’d skuttle around the shops. I have such happy memories and have included a couple of references to this in the print.

Today Stockport is a thriving town centre with lots of independent shops and events. I spent a few hours wandering around and heard live music and tunes everywhere, I met some amazing people and felt energised from the visit. I will be back soon, I really love this place.

You get a sense of the town as you wander up steps and see rooftops below. The architecture is a real mix of styles but somehow it all works as a whole. It is a delight to see regeneration of the interchange and how people were enjoying this space. The history of hat making is interesting and in a short visit to the museum I learnt lots. If I were a rabbit in the hat era I’d have jumped on a train! The hats in the picture are all from the play areas at the hat museum so get down and try them on (I did).

This piece was digitally designed using my own photos and some archive pics. It is on A3 white card. It is a 3 layer screenprint with a black layer, a red to yellow gradient in one layer and a blue gradient on another. Each print is signed and dated Mancsy 2024.
